When and where is the festival?Saturday & Sunday, September 10 & 11, 2011. Here are details: Who's playing this year? The schedule and artist bios are at www.ctmsfolkmusic.org/equinox/artists.html. All information subject to change, check back frequently. How is it a "teaching arts" festival?Attendees have the opportunity to take workshops from almost every artist they see on stage, and then some! Workshops are lively and participatory so bring your instrument and dancing shoes. Check the schedule for specific topics, but workshops range from beginning old-time guitar to southern harmony singing to masterclasses in Irish accordion. There are also storytelling workshops and participatory dance all day.
But what if I don't play an instrument or have never danced? No problem! There are concerts all day that you can enjoy, craft vendors and participatory crafts in the family area. Plus there's no previous experience necessary for the dance sessions – callers/instructors will be there to talk you through every step. Try it, you might like it! And remember, if you can walk, you can dance. If you can talk, you can sing. How can I buy tickets? Please visit www.ctmsfolkmusic.org/equinox/tickets.html to purchase tickets prior to September 7th. You may pay by credit card or send us a check. How can I volunteer? Please contact volunteer coordinator Wyatt Stone at volunteer@ctmsfolkmusic.org or call 818-817-7756. What's the parking situation?
We highly encourage carpooling! Will there be activities for kids?Yes, there is a large Family Area with all-day performances, workshops and crafts. Is there food at the festival?Yes there will be food vendors throughout the day, including beverages, full espresso bar from longshot coffee, shaved ice, sandwiches and hotdogs. From 11am to 2pm they'll be joined by The Munchie Machine food truck. Do you sell beer or wine at the festival? No, we do not sell beer or wine at the 2011 event. You may bring your own beer and wine but we ask that it be consumed discreetly and in small amounts. Our security volunteers shouldn't need to spend time dealing with someone who has consumed too much. Also, remember that this is a family event; we want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a good time. Please keep this in mind and enjoy your beverages discreetly. Can I use my credit card at the festival? There will be a credit card option for ticket payment at the festival entrance and at the Country Store. Can I sell my old instrument at the festival?Yes! The Instrument Consignment area is next to the Country Store, near the Elaine Weissman Stage.
